review 1: Oh, what a terrible disappointment. I went into this book expecting thrilling adventures with blood and the supernatural, and for a while that's what I got, but in not too much time this just turned into another crappy heterosexual romance novel. Not to mention the pacing is completely whack. Please, enough with the horrible boy meets girl plots. That's not what I checked out this book for. Abandoned on page 130.
review 2: After reading the description and the first few chapters, I was utterly hooked, eager to devour the whole series... but then the book started to fall short of those excited expectations. I was still caught up in unraveling the backstory mysteries (about their infamous parents and Josephine's journal) but the protagonists Silla and Nick gradua
... morelly held less appeal for me. I could have used less forced mask symbolism, fewer awkward metaphors, more believable choices, less mooning and lusting and use of "babe." The overall concept was definitely interesting, though I kept hoping for more unique and deep development as the book progressed. But while I couldn't give the book the 5 stars I was hoping for, it also kept my interest well enough to never fall below 3, and I could see myself eventually checking out the next book in the series (which focuses on different characters). less
