review 1: Mark Vincent is works for WBIS and Quinton Mann is CIA. They're both very good at what they do, and working for different agencies makes them rivals professionally. But after meeting on an op, Mark develops a fascination with Quinn. And when Quinn discovers that, the mind-games begin. The mind-games soon becomes of a sexual character, and even though they both stubbornly ignore it, both of them are slowly falling for each other. In the beginning I found the writing style confusing with the jumps to flashbacks in the middle of a paragraph and the way it told the story from one pov and then jumping back in time to tell it from a different pov.But it grew on me, and I really liked Mark and Quinn, they had a lot of chemistry, and it was interesting to see their "non-relationshi... morep" become something without them realizing it.I'm against cliffhangers, so that left me a bit unsatisfied, but I'm really looking forward to reading the next book...
review 2: So there is this made up agency called the Washington Bureau of Intelligence and Security or WBIS for short. Apparently its chief mission is self-preservation. Essentially the only thing we see WBIS agents do is try to sabotage the hated rival agency, the CIA and their own fellow agents, several of which are just murdered or as the book puts it "canceled" because apparently they pissed off one of the book's main protagonist, Mark Vincent. Adding to the surrealism of the agency are the facts that it forces retirement from the field at 35 and no women are allowed to be agents. Yeah, sounds like a really effective spying agency to me too. It could have been fun if the author had just gone all the way with the cartoon aspects of the concept and let them just do silly over the top things a la the Spy vs Spy cartoon, instead of just constantly murdering their own agents. The best part of the book is the relationship between the two central characters. I loved the way they courted each other by playing mind-game and the sex scenes sizzled. However, I didn't enjoy the numerous scenes that were replayed from both main characters viewpoints as they failed to offer additional information. The book also suffered from poor editing. Characters prattled on about boring and pointless things like what to order for dinner. Basic character bios were repeated endlessly to the point the author some how though it was insightful to note that the one of the main characters had enjoyed previous male partners, on I kid you not, the very last page of the book, despite the book having already chronicled them. I also didn't appreciate the book ending right in the middle of things. Still I want to read the next one, so the author was doing something right. less

A book written in a language as unique (i.e.: muddled/full of in-jargon) as the author's name.
