review 1: Interesting, engaging book about an adoptee (Eleanor) who wants to adopt. While getting ready to leave to pick up the baby, the husband gets cold feet and refuses to go. This story explores the ramifications of this. I had some issues with the morality of Eleanor's thought processes and justifications for what she does and does not do, but found it fascinating to follow them out to their logical conclusion. Still not sure that then ending really would have happened in real life, but it did feel good.
review 2: What a lovely book. This author reminds me of Elizabeth Berg. The characters are all real and endearing. The story glides effortlessly along and I never wanted it to end. I have one very minor pet peeve though and it is when an author makes factual errors... more in time. For example, a character is said to have played with an Aeorsmith cover band in 1959 but in fact, Aeorsmith band didn't form until 1970. That is a minor error but it bugs me nonetheless. Everything else about the book is a wonderful comforting read. less
