review 1: I read the adult version of this story first and cried through most of it. I could imagine the pain and frustrations the parents were going through. The story itself is so amazing, my faith was renewed 100 times over. Then, when the kids version came out I couldn't wait to read it to my sons and share it with my nieces and nephews. To have the story told from Colton's perspective is priceless. The way he can describe Heaven in a way children can relate to and understand is amazing. The illustrations are just ok. But I like they add actual Bible Verses that correspond with Colton's descriptions on each page, it is helpful and a good way parents can expand on what Colton was seeing and feeling. This in turn can inspire deep and meaningful conversations and lessons between pa... morerents and child.
review 2: I heard an interview with the young man who is the focus of this book. I was impressed with his forthrightness (in the interview)and unwavering conviction. The book explores the same idea: conviction and given from a child's perspective. I liked the "real" way Todd Burpo presented their family life and the young man himself. The story is told in such a way as to question if this family could live next door.I really enjoyed the story and would love to meet the young man. I can't wait to see what is in store for him. less
