review 1: Well this is a first for me! I felt for the killer. Seriously, if a woman stands in front of me taking 15 min to make up her mind about what type of coffee she wants I would lose it too. The moral of the story is driven home by the killers over the top reaction to people who wasted his time. The story is very original, the characters, Jesse and Max in particular showed growth and facets of their personality was started leaving room for them to grow in the rest of the series. The authors writing needs a wee bit of polish but trust me, I can see his talent and the originality of the plot is so extraordinary that I cannot wait to see this author grow. I did not like when the poor dog died but that at last got me over my sympathy for the killer. WaAr
review 2: I ... morelove to read a good thriller, be it crime or political, and Todd M. Thiede has joined my list of the top crime writers. Especially since this book offers quite a change from the same old, sale old of other crime fiction, which has, in my opinion, gotten a little stale and repetitive. The book is also very well written and the language is so gripping it pulls you right into the story. Especially in the first chapter I could really feel Stephen Bjornson's panic. I also liked the basic idea that the killer is out to get "Time Wasters." In this day and age we're all in such a rush all the time that we forget how to just be and relax. This book's premise touched on the absurdity of that and when I find extras like that in a genre book it just makes the book that much better in my eyes. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-written crime thriller with depth. less
