review 1: Very disappointing. It had all the potential of being a great book but that didn't happen. The first seven chapters build up the heroin with much more detail than I cared for. And as it turned out was a waste of time since she really is not what the story is about. Amanda goes into a "treasure trove" and then for the next 400 pages it is a totally different story about Cain from the time he kills Able until the time he fights with the devil in this very Treasure trove. Amanda just disappears from the book as do the other current day people except for momentary flashes. The last couple chapters come back to Amanda and a closing of the story which I felt was incomplete and lacking the finale it should have been. Fact is it didn't really explain what really happened but you c... morean guess. The writers tried something I would say didn't work.
review 2: This book was nothing like I thought it would be after reading the back cover. The book chronicled the life of Cain and his centuries of wandering the earth after killing Abel. Cain travels extensively throughout Egypt, Greece, China and Rome over many centuries as he is immortal. The book moved at an easy pace and kept my interest throughout the book. At times it reminded me of the bible stories I read as a child. The book is not overly religious it just happens to be about the adventures of Cain's life. There are a few other Christian references - just enough to enhance the story. Overall, I enjoyed it and I will definitely read the next book in the series. less
