review 1: I'd actually give it a 2.5.This book was a random purchase for me—no knowledge of it or the author; I liked the cover. I have to be honest when I say that the cover is similar to the book—inconsistent and not entirely representative of the interior.I found the book in the Urban Fantasy section of the book store but I have to say it was in the wrong section. This is pure romance (or maybe paranormal romance). Urban Fantasy is a mere hint, somewhere in the story line. The main character is presented as a bad-ass ‘hunter’ who is one of the best out there, despite her age (twenty-something). She hunts a bad type of vampire and has many kills. She is one tough broad (we’re told—repetitively). She hates vampires because they killed her parents so that helps make her g... moreood at her job—according to the information we’re given. This book is a compilation of inconsistencies. The characters, the action, the decisions made, none of them are in agreement with the information presented to us. When we see her in action, the main character (the bad-ass) is a sniveling damsel in distress. The hunter with the hundred plus kills can’t keep herself out of anyone’s way, much less the bad people. The ending is far-fetched. I had an Empire Strikes Back moment of “Luke, I am your father” moment in there with the completely random addition to the story.I believe there are more books out there but I don’t think I can bring myself to bother.
review 2: I was thinking of giving it a 2 but I just could not cos I was sooooo bored. At one time I almost fell asleep and at another time I had no idea who this one guy was. I could not focus, I did not care. What went wrong? I do not know. The world building seemed ok, the writing was good. But I never grew to like the heroine, I never liked the hero. I never felt the attraction between them and never understood her. Also was this supposed to be UF? No, it was not. There was a plot, which I have forgotten seems it all seemed to be the dance between these two. The sex, the yawn. When I want UF I want UF, so for you PNR fans this might interested you more. I do like PNR but then it should be pnr and this mix did not work for me at this time.I wish I had quit it and DNF it, but I was stuck in a car and nothing else to read.Still it was not bad, it was just not for me. less
