review 1: While I am not normally a huge fan of history or romance, this book did a fantastic job of keeping me engaged. Also, while this is a second book in the series, and I haven't read the first one, I had no problem following the storyline. The only thing that I didn't like is that there was not a lot of stuff that really happened in the book. For this reason it took me a couple of days to finish as I found it hard to read for more then short periods of time. Maybe its because I didn't read the first one? The author did a good job of descriptions but sometimes I would find it going on for more then one page before a character spoke or moved. Overall it was a good read.
review 2: I've read one other in the series, I think. I liked the doctor, but it felt like we jum

I also didn't prefer Amanda's attitude about the forced marriage. Her father seemed like a jerk and for all her willfulness she should have stamped her foot down. But I loved the last page. less

Dark and sad. 1 comic relief. Mostly social drama and abusive scenes. Would not recommend.
