review 1: This is a great book to introduce kids to mysteries. No murder, no mayhem, just good thinking and some adventure! The main characters have learned to play 'The Game' from their father - a game of figuring out people by observing them closely on the street and putting clues together. This practice of observation and deductive reasoning gives them the skills that they need to solve some of the mysteries that their great-great-great grandfather, Sherlock Holmes, didn't solve (sometimes he was called away on a more important case). ... moreolmes, Americans spending a year in London with their parents who discover that they are direct descendants of Sherlock Holmes. They are handed a cryptic note and must find their way into a secret room and when they do, wonderful things begin to happen. They are handed Sherlock Holmes unsolved mysteries casebook and wonder if they can solve any of the cases. Can they do what the famous Sherlock Holmes was not able to do? The story is a delightful read whether or not you have read the Sherlock Holmes stories or not. I highly recommend this book to mystery fans. less
