review 1: Although this is quite a light-hearted book and there is plenty of humour within, it centres on a serious subject from which the humour does not detract.Katy, 36 and independent with younger lover Ben in tow, discovers she is unexpectedly pregnant but worse than that she doesn’t know who the father is. It could be Ben, who at eight years her junior, Katy thinks is not mature or responsible enough to be a father; and it could be Matthew, the childhood sweetheart who broke her heart. Eight months earlier Matthew and Katy came face to face at a school reunion and although the last thing Katy expected was to end up in bed with him, after an evening of drinking and reminiscing, that’s exactly what happens. Putting that incident from her mind she is horrified and shocked ... moreto realise the situation she is in but determined to make the best of it whilst Ben, in ignorance of the Matthew incident determines with a healthy mix of feelings to put his all into supporting Katy. And then, walking into an antenatal class Katy comes face to face again with Matthew – and not just Matthew but his very pregnant-with-twins wife and the news that Matthew has relocated with his work to Leeds. From thinking that she need never see Matthew again, once Matthew does the sums and realises he could be the father of Katy’s baby too, Katy is caught up in a dilemma that could wreck her relationship with Ben and Matthew’s with his wife.As the final weeks of pregnancy pass Katy doesn’t know whether Ben will make the grade as a dad but she also discovers that she does want more than she’s ever had before and that maybe she’s not the tough Katy everyone thinks. One thing is for certain, there is a lot of soul searching to be done.Tracy Bloom has hit the note between humour and serious just right in this warm and entertaining novel. The distress Katy feels and tries to hide at her situation, although surrounded by funny incidents, is still there and made me feel for her, especially as the hormones kick in and she becomes aware that she wants what other women have. Nor has she left out the male view of things; Ben may be a little immature but his feelings play a part and are portrayed extremely well as are Matthew’s as the maybe father of two families; all the shock and mixed feelings are there too.Yes, perhaps the characters were a little clichéd but things only become clichéd because they have an element of truth and these characters played their parts to perfection and the observations were spot on. I loved the book from beginning to end, it was an easy uncomplicated read but chock full of fun, warmth and human interest. It made me laugh, smile and yes; I even felt a lump at the end. A happy end? You’ll need to read to find out.
review 2: Picked it up at the Hostel in Malmö, walked through Copenhagen with it - reading it in bits and pieces at the spots through the cityIt's a fun book - not to mind consuming, just the right thing for in betweenJust didn't like how Ben treated the relationship in the End. - There was just too much changing of plans with too little explanation - How can a guy go from trying to be the best dad ever to not wanting to ever talk to her again to asking to marry her within a couple days?Seems like she just wanted to throw in a twist right before the endI'm going to register that one on bookcrossing and just leave it here now.... less

A quick, easy read, hardly about sex at all...
