review 1: I read more of this than I normally would have, because I'm such a sucker for a guy that falls head over heels and has to convince the girl their soul mates. But in the end, I only made it about 15ish% before I couldn't take it anymore. (He caught her scent, so she's his?!? Can't handle it). I think it had potential, her reactions to things.. And the sitch with her aunt and cousin.. And her parents.. And the fat CIA dude.. All of those things killed it. Killed it dead. Pretty much every aspect of the plot so far has felt unrealistic. Forced. (Obviously as a reader of paranormal and fantasy, I don't mean unrealistic because of supernatural beings and that kind of thing.. But unrealistic like a 'normal' persons reactions to finding all this out would be nothing like the h's,... more and events in real life would play out nothing like this). And don't even get me started on her mom and dads real identities. Holy mother of cheese! And the dad being shot and her needing to know who did it (why does that make any difference if they're a faceless name in another country?! Seriously, it's just dumb).
review 2: I really wanted to give this book three stars, but I had too many problems with it. Faegan has come up with this great premise of dark angels but i feel that basic theology would've made it clear that Gid would be omniscent and thus would know about the Mephisto before their mother's death. I also thought that the whole book went way too fast. It needed more detail, more understanding of why things happened instead of the reader just being told so. Sometimes it was hard for me to connect to Sasha because her character just wasn't real to me. Jax was better however and Phoenux was okay but I hated Amanda and her obvious stupidity. I wish there had been better details of Phoenix and Jane, especially because she says in the story she left some out. It was annoying that you didnt understand everything that was happening and why Sasha felt the way she did about her mother at the end. I was ok with the ending but what annoyed me most about the book was that it seemed like the author knew everything about the book already and she wrote her story as if we knew everything as well. I really actually liked this book and if things were different i would recommend it for light reading. less
