review 1: This book is very heartbreaking. To have such awful things done to her, she still comes out on top, but reasonably, of course. The characters were very developed so I felt closer to the story, also. The only thing I would change about this is the abrupt ending. I felt as though something was still happening, but the book just ended. Very bad place to cut off. It left me very confused and at first I thought there was going to be a second book but I don't think there is.

... morerough, I think the reader feels sort of a slap in the face when we find out that Alex is Callie's stepmothers brother (kind of a step uncle I guess). It's also so cute that they continue the relationship (for a while anyway) in secrecy. The end of the book is almost bitter sweet considering her and Alex go their separate ways (at least that's what I got from it) but she finally believes her mother's timeless saying, regardless of where she is. less
