Pinocchio, Vampire Slayer
review 1: This comic book is the first in a series which brings together the Pinocchio story with a quest to rid the world of vampires. It is intended to be humorous and mainly dwells on the main character, Pinocchio, the only character which is fully developed, although the Blue Fairy, Geppetto, Cherry and Carlotta all get a bit of a look-inI am not a great fan of black-and-white line drawings in comics so the style was not really right for me. The plot was good without being totally original: I was not surprised about plot developments but it was still relatively engaging.Enjoyable enough but not really my bag.
review 2: Just when you thought it was safe to assume ALL literature reworked into Vampire stories were lame…I saw Pinocchio Vampire Slayer at the library (th
... moreat’s a place where you get to borrow books for free) and couldn’t pass it up. Maybe it was the cover art, maybe it was just the idea of the Disney character I’d loved as a child killing vampies that drove me. I’m not sure, but there was no chance I’d leave this puppy behind.First things first, the introduction is very important for those who, like me, never read the original Pinocchio, by Carlo Collodi. I mean shoot, I picked it up once to read to my daughter but we didn’t get very far. Anywho, they go over some of the original story for you because apparently Disney changed it. Plus, the vampires only came AFTER the original story ended. So yeah, this is a sequel of sorts.Gheppeto has been killed by vampires and Pinnocchio is out for blood. Vampire blood I mean. Cuz otherwise he’d be a bad guy. The art really is cool and while the writing may not be so… well, classic literature-y, it’s a fun, funny, quick read with lots of one-liners worth celebrating. Yes, celebrating!A definite recommend. If there’s a part 2, I’m checking it out. Oh, and Hollywood… please make this one into a movie to make up for that Lincoln one. I promise this will be better. less

Meh. It was okay. What's up with Geppetto always turning out to be evil?
