review 1: So sad that I've finished this series. It was addicting and very difficult to put down. I grew to love the characters like they were old friends. Imagining their hair grey and their wrinkles appear as Cathy went from a little 12 year old girl to an middle aged women in her fifties. This is a series I will always love and connect with. It allows you to paint the pictures of the story and recreate the scenes of the character you think you know so well. It's never boring or dry you never know what will happen as tragedy happen behind every page turned. This is definitely a series all should check out.

I think what I like about these books compared to what I normally read, is that not all obstacles are fantasy or supernatural. The things that happen in these books are just ordinary people trying to survive life. The beautiful way the author intertwines the lives of each family member shows how strong and yet week families can be. less
