review 1: While this was still an entertaining read for me, it didn't capture my full attention as the first book in this series. I think the overall story line was great, but it seemed there was a bit of repetition in the middle. After all, we knew that Hawk was Julianne's reluctant guardian, so it didn't have to be acknowledged over and over. I was also a bit disappointed in the way Hawk and Julianne finally spoke their undying love for each other. Considering all the wonderful fanfare we had at the beginning of the book when he considered her a 'sister', I was expecting more of a dramatic confrontation at the end, rather than just the enticing drama in the bedroom. Either way, I'm thrilled to read about Amy and Hawk's long lost brother, Will.

... more bit of a dick and the heroine is incapable of making up her mind. I suppose they are both products of the time which the novel depicts, but many authors take those types of characters and make them appealing, whereas Vicky Dreiling doesn't. The plot is stretched a bit thin because I don't think it was nearly interesting enough to base an entire novel on. It was all tied up very neatly in the last few chapters and left me thinking 'oh. Was that it?'. less

slow to start out, and not exceptional, but a good read nonetheless.

Kept smile on my face - what fun tieing it to the The Rules.

OK escapism - warm-hearted romance - not much depth.
