review 1: I loved this book. There were some parts that were dumb, like she was a girlie girl, and I so am not like that so it was dumb to me, but overall I loved most everything about this, from the race to most of the characters. Yes, it's got similarities to Hunger Games. Everything everywhere is a spin off of something else. There are no new ideas. What matters is if you enjoyed it, and I loved this book, I can't wait for the next one.
review 2: First off, I was expecting this to be sorta like Hunger Games. So I was a bit skeptical as to whether or not id like it. As I started it, I instantly liked it. Tella was a unique and very enjoyable character and I cannot wait to see how she matures with the next novel. The pandoras, animals created to help the contenders
... more in the competition were so lovable, especially Maddox :) I really liked the characters as well. I hope to see more of my favorites return in the sequel. Basically, the story is about a competition, although not so much fight to the death. Its a competition to find a cure...or win a cure from the rule makers. A cure to help an ailing family member. Its more like a race that spans three ecosystems, jungle, desert and I believe the last one was sky? I cant remember, but each one takes two weeks and after the race is over a small prize is given to the winner of the particular race while the grand prize is reserved for the all around best contender at the end of the three. Tella is competing for her brother, and she meets friends during it who change the way she thinks in more ways than one. less
