review 1: This followed a very similar structure to Q&A but somehow didn't quite achieve the same result. Whereas Q&A was a series of parables (like The Alchemist) this was a series of increasingly unbelievable stories. I guess we have to allow for the Bollywood type of treatment the inevitable film will attract but it is still contrivance gone too far. The big reveal about two thirds of the way through was where it lost my attention and, after that, it was mostly irritating. I also struggled with the incongruity of the general tone of the book and some of the grotesque things that happened. Not sure what Swarup was aiming at here (other than big sales and a film deal, which he is almost guaranteed.
review 2: This book was amazing! I found it very modern and easy going. ... moreI think it highlights the life of India very well. It also reminds us of the various human qualities we have instilled in us, that allows us to be the best person we an be and an asset for society. It also delves into the aftermath of a beloved ones death and how a death continues to haunt us, even though we have adjusted to the loss. It shows how we adapt and change our own lifestyles in the hopes for redemption (because of survivor's guilt/ guilt in being involved)Sapna a typical girl of India, is invited to be the CEO of a multimillion business by the current CEO. However, in order to become the CEO she has to complete 7 tests successfully. These 7 tests are based on her 'everyday' life experiences and looks into how she makes her choices. However, it turns out someone is trying to frame her for the death of current CEO. Who this person turns out to be is mindblowing and i suggest you read this book to find out. less
