review 1: This is the second work by Khandekar that I've read. The magic of literary satisfaction and excitement that 'Kraunchavadh' had cast on me remained same while reading 'Amrutvel'. It's extraordinarily beautiful piece in Marathi literature. It feels like a betrayal reviewing 'Amrutvel' with my little experience with human emotions, but you enjoy the piece of any art by its presentation without knowing its minute details and exclaim "wow". I cannot resist my 'wow for 'Amrutvel'. Hence, few words. This man has seen the life from very close. He has experienced the subtle changes in human emotions so well that if feels convincing reading the same scenario that happens in the life of characters from 3/4 different perspectives of 'Nanda', "Dada', 'Aai' and 'Devdatta'. He develops ... morethe meaning of love. It IS unconditional, we've read, might have been experienced as well. But when sometimes it demands physical appearance of the partner, is not wrong, rather this is the root of this universe. When this demand is selfless and accompanied by the emotions, love starts...He has touched the crucial point in human life, how much pathetic and helpless we are, in front of Death, Fate and in all, Life. There come several 'Dream-not-came-true'moments in life, which itself is a life. The greatness of man lies in accepting this fact, watch it happening, smile at it, struggle to complete it, if at all it didn't come true, walk over it and develop a new dream. Taking one's own life is never a solution, will never be. No matter how hard, miserable life is, man, by his nature, loves to live it. No matter how strong he was before, he needs a shelter of love. Engaging oneself in new books and hobbies won't come to the rescue at such times. Man is full of paradoxes: he loves, he hates; he orders, he obeys, he is hard at core, but emotional too; he has the ability to forget, but is endowed with a strong memory too; he sees the dream of flying in the sky, but afraid of his nest on earth... Everyone is so. He just needs someone who understands him as he is. When he finds one, he starts living, all over again... Understanding someone getting into his shoes is all what we have to do...All in all,It's a recommended-read!
review 2: A delightful tale of human life. Book portrays human feelings like love, lust and conflicts in mind about them in young age. Book tells us to chase our dreams, we may fail but not to stop and carry on with new dreams. It tells us to involve in the outside world instead of being self centered so as to understand life around us and live it at its full. The language of book is really beautiful and explains lot about love, life. Simply awesome. less
