review 1: I was never interested in reading spy thrillers, until I discovered Ken Follett. He has the unique ability to keep one on the edge of his seat, riveted to every word he's written. This is the first book that I've read by Ward Larsen, and he is just as skillful as Ken Follett at distracting one from completing the more mundane duties in one's life. In the process of acting as the Good Samaritan, American Christine Palmer becomes involved with Kidon, David Slayton. A Kidon is a highly-skilled assassin. Slayton has become the target of others within his own organization who intend to frame him for the disappearance of a ship that was carrying two weapons of mass destruction. A relationship develops between Palmer and Slayton, and Slayton finds himself playing the role of body... moreguard to Palmer, as he attempts to locate the ship and it's cargo, as well as to foil an assassination attempt that could change the course of history. The clock is ticking.
review 2: Very competent, if hardly original, thriller that precisely splits the difference between Jason Bourne and Gabriel Allon. My favorite tradecraft detail is that the protagonist alters his hairline to appear receding/bald when he wants to go unnoticed! Fictional spies rarely choose the route of appearing less attractive or sexy, but it makes sense to me that it would be the best way to avoid attention. less
