review 1: I accidentally stumbled across this book when searching for another book when the headline "The Power of Inquiry to Spark Breakthrough Ideas" caught my attention. With no recommendations nor expectations I started this book and was quickly delighted I found this hidden gem. The insights and perspectives this book offers are indeed so inspiring that they "spark ideas" as the title indicates. If you want to broaden your horizon, learn something new or just look at things you already know but from a different perspective, this book will a pleasant experience leaving you empowered for inquiry.
review 2: “’Is it not curious, then, that the most significant intellectual skill available to human beings is not taught in schools?’” –Dan Rothstein of the Right
... moreQuestion InstituteAuthor Warren Berger challenges us to question our questions—or lack thereof. He shows us that the power of good questions can shake our brains from the compliant, naïve complacence of our day-to-day transactions—what neurologist Robert Burton calls a “certainty epidemic”—and thrust us into deeper problem-solving creativity. In schools, organizations and bureaucracies, we all too often seek to provide quick and easily-rewarded answers, rather than dwell on deeper questions that may benefit much more than grades or bottom lines. Berger shows us that asking Why? What If? and How? questions is a relatively easy discipline to incorporate into any home, school or workplace. Since Google, as smart as it is, still cannot cure cancer or end world hunger and human trafficking, or do away once and for all with those pesky electric cords, humans must relearn how to question like a child, to wrestle with the uncertainty and seemingly inefficient questioning process if we hope to make progress toward such noble goals. Moreover, those who develop the curiosity and joy of lifelong learning will be the innovators and contributors of the future. less

Ground-breaking? Thought-provoking? The topic yes, the book no. Rather simplistic and disappointing

One of the most thought provoking books in a long time. What will be my next question?

Disappointingly conventional.
