review 1: Highly stylized, supernatural, vigilante justice from a street-level anti-hero. It's like Batman mixed with Spawn but much, much better than that comparison suggests. I like the pencils. I like the coloring even more. Each issue is a one off story told economically and often uniquely, just as much with pictures as with words. There are even some thoughtful moments (showing the mundane conversations of people knowing they are going to die and a very effective page showing a man emotionally wounded by years of disaffirmation). The characterization is pretty thin and mostly consists of people saying how crazy Moon Night is and then Moon Knight explaining why he is, in fact, a bad-ass lunatic. The split personalities gimmick is also not emphasized, which seems odd. There are p... morelenty of topical antagonists (evil bank executives, a dispossessed veteran, a disgruntled cop on a power trip, human traffickers, and ethically dubious researchers). I don't usually dig this gritty, anti-hero stuff. It usually feels like macho, teenage boy drivel. This, however, walked the line well. Check it out.
review 2: I always like Warren Ellis’ work. He brings a jaunty righteousness to his vigilantes that satisfies like a well crafted hamburger. Delicious but not that good for you. At the same time, Ellis is at his best when constructing his own worlds and characters. Thus, my feeling about Moon Knight: From the Dead is mixed — it’s a character that exists already and seems nearly unkillable, that protects people who ‘travel at night’ in the city? So far there just isn’t much there to grab on to. I’ll give it another volume, surely, because it’s Warren Ellis. But so far, it feels like the Punisher but with a dumb mask. less

Ellis je magor... a série o magorovi mu sedne. Škoda že toho nebude víc.
