review 1: If this book had been marketed as an erotica, it could have joined the league of the classics. I was forced to read due to my curiosity which was generated by the controversy surrounding the book. The writer is unclear about the subject of the book, she quickly changed pace from history, sociology, eroticism, literature and technology . The book ultimately ends up being a dull hodge podge of Indian history.

... moreow the coming of Aryans, Mughals and British effected Hinduism.Like any other novelist, Wendy Doniger tries to use sex to spice up the narrative which quite predictably and understandingly didn't go well with many Hindus. otherwise it's a really comprehensive(and well written) treatise on Hinduism. less
