review 1: Joss, the 7th son of the Supreme Overlord of the universe, gets to deliver pies. He lives in the Realms, a secret area made of dark matter that is invisible. But when his world is spotted by an Earthling, Annika, a 12-almost-13 girl, who is transported through a wormhole in time and space, and the Realms are in danger of being discovered, the planet Earth must be destroyed. Temporarily. So Joss and Annika must rebuild Earth within a certain time limit before Earth is truly gone. this book was a little hard to follow, but the setting was very different.
review 2: I read this book at the suggestion of my 10 year old son. I am glad I did. This book puts the science in science fiction. I was impressed with Mass' research based use of scientific knowledge in a work
... moreof fiction. I have not read much in the way of science fiction. I always thought of it as more of a sub-genre of fantasy. This novel read more like a work of historical fiction where the historical was replaced with science. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Wendy Mass and even other science fiction novels in the future. less
