review 1: I enjoyed reading this book because I can picture Wendy actually narrating it. I like her candid and frank answers to many of the questions in this book. I think most of the answers she gave, I would have to agree with. Maybe I'm just getting too old. I honestly read this for fun and not necessarily to look for answers regarding certain life situations. Though, it was kinda nice that she affirmed a lot of decisions I made with similar situations. I would recommend this if you like Wendy.
review 2: Williams’s purpose in writing her book, Ask Wendy, is to let her readers know that there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Although times maybe hard just keep moving. Ask Wendy offers happiness, power, and worth. It teaches us that we should forget a
... morell the reasons why something’s won’t work and believe the one reason that it will. Ask Wendy is truly an inspiration. It captures so many emotions and situations that so many readers can relate to. Ask Wendy is especially well written. This story was easy to read, but still compromises a wide range of vocabulary and sentence structure. The author also provides fun and sassiness two combinations that will appeal to the young mind in a very unique way. For example, she discusses her own life experiences and how they have influenced her advice, especially how she met her husband, “I was about twenty nine years old when I met my husband Kevin he was twenty two” (Williams 69). Williams defiantly knows how to capture the audience’s attention. This novel was truly inspirational. The love story that was told in this novel was similar to other love stories but what makes it different is that it was something real. The reader would feel more personal, as if Wendy was sitting before them, giving advice as she usually does on her talk show. the emotions were so motivating as if you were their. They might laugh, and at times even shed a tear. The characters in this book share their true stories and experiences so you find yourself realizing that you’re not different from them. This book possesses the elements for an undeniably interesting, thought-provoking story and very fun. The greatest strength of the book, Ask Wendy, is that it is told in a completely realistic way. Yes, it is fun to read certain books like The Wendy Williams Experience and Wendy’s got the heat, but none of these novels weren’t her recent ones there for they could not compare to the realistic traits as Ask Wendy. This exemplified when one of her audience members asked a very personal question saying, “I feel like I’m playing the game with the guys I meet, do I always have to pretend to be something I’m not to get a guy to like me,” (Williams 71). Also it was very impressive how the author made a lot of descriptive comparisons to her own experiences in order to relate and give advices. The greatest weakness of the book is that it ends where you don’t want it to. It is honestly one of the greatest advice books that I have ever read. I would absolutely recommend this book to mainly mature audiences and also teens as well. It has opened my eyes to all sorts of possibilities like how to love myself first and learning how to be happy for me. I also know that it will have the same positive effect on other readers as well. The questions in this book were so genuine. I felt so connected to them and the ones that were asking the questions. The one topic question that I felt connected to is the friend drama one. I do have some questions of my own to ask her about a few things, but I found myself agreeing with much of what she had to say. The quizzes throughout the book were balanced for each personality type with both praise and advice and that there was no wrong answer. less
