review 1: I've reached for it because I liked House MD and found his arguments interesting and wanted more insight and I've to say it's a very interesting book. The philosophy is just enough that anybody can understand what the author wants to say even without have actually seen the series. Anyway, I think the author captured nicely House's character and points of view. And he's right in many things. Not just for House but in general. It's just too bad that the book covers only the first four seasons of the series. Otherwise I've no complaints.
review 2: I listened to this on audio book at the gym. Yes, House and Philosophy is what motivates me to run, jump, lift, and huff and puff. Overall this is a good book. The philosophy is just enough that anyone without a backgrou
... morend in the subject can comprehend what the author is saying, and those with a background can still appreciate the arguments without feeling they are too jejune. The only downside is it's clear that the book only covers up to around season 4, and there were huge advancements in tragic-comedy of House that take place after those seasons, which are brimming with philosophical fodder. If you like House, and you actually think the issues they talk about on the show warrant deeper discussion (e.g., is House a 'good' doctor, is House good, is the search for truth at all cost warranted, is Cameron too nice, do the consequences of saving a life trump all means to do so, etc), then you'll like this book. less
