review 1: It took me a bit to get into this one but once I sorted out who was who it was able to charm me. I enjoyed the inclusion of the historical photos and often found myself stopping to read up on the small historical references on Wikipedia. The book was divided into six sections mostly titled with the name of various yoga poses. The yoga connection didn’t really work for me and it wasn’t really clear to me how the sections were divided up. In fact my biggest criticism of the book was that it jumped around too much between story lines and timelines without enough clues to quickly identify when/where you were in the story.
review 2: This was a thoroughly enjoyable and unique story. At first, I was a bit distracted by the structure of jumping from one character t
... moreo the next; there are quite a few of them to get to know and you never really stop bouncing around. But I loved how their stories became woven together in the end. The use of interior dialogue for each of the character was interesting. Most of all, it was fascinating the glimpse what the internal life of the monarchy might look like and how it might feel for the Queen to take an impromptu outing. Plus, there was Shakespeare and poetry, which can never go wrong. less
