review 1: From the beginning to the end this book completely grabbed my attention! Not only was it exciting it was also breathtaking. Its authors like this that inspire me not only to read their books but to write as well. It was intense throughout the book. It gives us hope it gives us life! It shows that everyone deserves a second chance no matter what we have done. God always forgives us. Though the book is far from preachy I truly feel this book is a great read for all!
review 2: The book opens with a demon looking down from her tower in Hell, watching the same old torture and horrors being performed on the souls trapped there. Astarte is tired of life in Hell, what there is of life, and is looking for redemption. So Astarte, escaping Hell, becomes Brynna Malak. But
... moreBrynna doesn’t know the first thing about being human – let alone how she’s going to find redemption from God. She finds herself in the middle of a serial killer investigation. Only she knows that the killer is assassinating Nephilim, the children of fallen angels and humans, before they can fulfill their God-given calling. Brynna’s got to save the ones she can and stop the killer before they take out their next target.I thought this is a very interesting concept and the way that the author gave voice to the story helps you believe in Brynna. Brynna sees the world in a unique way and it’s refreshing to view life as she does. I enjoyed the way she grew to have friendships and to actually care about the fate of the people with whom she became friends. Brynna’s faith in herself and in God increases over time and it’s heartening to see. However, she’s still a realist and knows that it’s going to take a lot of time and work to earn true redemption. This story is funny, touching, thought-provoking, and heartbreaking. There is quite a bit of violence and the ending takes your breath away. Ms. Navarro has created strong characters, a slick, intriguing world, and doesn’t give her characters an easy time – which I like!Dark Redemption series: Highborn (1), Concrete Savior (2) less
