Elle South Africa writes:
The music festival, founded in 2005 by James Spooner and Matthew Morgan in Brooklyn NYC, has become a global movement in its own right, growing a formidable following with rooted values in unity of otherness, and including a diverse group of people.
Morgan added, “Thoughtful curation sees house, kwaito, punk, hip-hop, soul, reggae, roots, pop and other genres all a part of the AFROPUNK Johannesburg celebration that will culminate in an unforgettable New Year’s Eve party in this awesome African city.”

AFROPUNK rang in the new year in Johannesburg! The community coming together, the powerful performances, the DJ’s turning the field into a giant dancefloor were a sight to behold.
As always at AFROPUNK festivals, the public was a big part of the event. Or shall we say the main part?
