review 1: This book took me some time to read. I'd put it down then return to it, over and over again. Because even if sometimes I wanted to slap Jimmy for being so oblivious or just downright dumb, I still needed to know what happened to him. I needed to know if he found his way, figured out who and what he was and got his man.At the beginning, Ed and Don were my favourite characters - by the end, I was head over heels in love with Jimmy. So completely honest about his flaws, vulnerable and true in heart and spirit - he really touched me. It was nice to catch up with everyone at the J-Bar, but this was a Jimmy and Ed's story all the way and a beautiful, raw, heartfelt story it was too.
review 2: 4.5*A really well-written story with loveable characters, especially Jimmy,
... more the protagonist. He doesn´t have it easy but his development throughout the book is believable and doesn´t feel contrived. The story is moving but not so sweet as to make your teeth ache. I especially enjoyed the author´s sense of language and imagery that I had already admired in the first "Cowboy´s" book and that played a large part in my decision to buy this book. However, I can only give the book 4.5*, since the recurring typos had the nasty effect of jolting me right out of the story and where so obvious that they could have easily been avoided. less
