review 1: Tasha and Emily cant be more different than two girls can be. But both girls jump into a overseas exchange semester to get away from issues back home. Tasha was humiliated by a hidden camera caught her and a reality TV star in a hot tub, partially naked. Emily has everything planned out by her controlling father and desperate for a change. When they trade places and schedules both girls struggle with fitting into their new environments. Tasha has to figure out Oxford and the strange classes, and Emily gets to take classes in California at UCSB. This was a good book about how two girls can overcome differences and make the best of the situation. I kinda wished that the ending wasn't as rushed. Most of the dialog felt real to me, but the characters are both 19 so th... moreis is set in college, not high school, so there is drinking and topless activity. It is good for an older teen and is a very quick read.
review 2: In Abby McDonald's book Sophomore Switch she tells a story of two girls struggling to fit in with new surroundings and trying to survive in a world full of drama. I would recommend this book to teenagers in high school and for young adults in college. Abby McDonald tells this story from the point of view of two different girls who decide that they need a change and a switch in their surroundings. Tasha is a California girl with a bad past behind her that has a lot of boy drama in it, and caused bad publicity for her family. Emily is from England and wants to try something new, but with a strict dad it's hard for her to venture out and try new things.Tasha ends up enrolling in school in England and faces new challenges with making new friends and dealing with break ups. She finds out fast that England is totally different from California and she learns to make adjustments and enjoy her life. While in California Emily learns a few things herself. She learns that California couldn't be more different from England. Through all the boy drama and having to deal with film classes she learns a new side of herself that has been held back from all of the strictness back home.Through all the ups and downs they rose from their challenges and learned that it is good to get out and try something new. I would recommend this book to people, because it ended up being very entertaining and it just sucks you right in! less
