review 1: Not my cup of tea. The financial stuff didn't bother me too much and I did not find it boring or anything, but I still prefer just a tiny bit of a hint the MCs even like each other just a little bit. There was a lot of steamy sex in this one, but emotions? Close to zero. Unless, of course, you count greed, hate, hunger for power etc.As the author points out in his comment at the end of the book, Francis is not much of a romantic character. He is still the only one of the main characters (I consider more than just two people 'main characters' in this one) I liked.One good thing about this book: Thank you, Aleks Voinov, for almost making me grateful I am not filthy rich. With a normal income I don't have to involve myself with this kind of people.
review 2: My ju... morembled first impressions...4.8- I got a bit bogged down in the financial jargon and I had issues with a couple of things that always prove difficult for me to stomach-- and Aleks always has them in his best stories. Fucker! Wins me over every time! Utterly engaging pretty much throughout. It doesn't fit the usual MM labels and romance formula, and that made this much more intriguing. The characters and situations threw me for a loop many times-- but in the best possible way. I'm not going to say the D-word, but does have plenty of that. And Martin has chemistry with each of the men in his life, and I'm not sure why in most cases-- it's complicated. And I love that about this story. Okay, I'm just rambling now. I'm glad Aleks saw this one through. I'm glad he let it be the story it needed to be-- even if publishing it is the equivalent of a home birth, in a kiddie pool. Well done. less
