review 1: This book was beautiful but underwhelming. I feel like it would have been more effective as a novella, because the ideas were good but in fleshing them out, Ali Shaw somehow made them seem bland and dry. Long passages of this book made me foot-tappingly impatient, and I am not a "skimmer" type reader so I'm used to waiting for the good stuff to happen. Basically, there are lots of books in which the concept lacks but the writing is beautiful. The Girl With Glass Feet had beautiful ideas but poor writing.
review 2: A slow starter but one that dragged me in more with every turn of the page. So many branches to the man that is Midas Crook. Loss, anxiety and a love that really conquers all. A man you find yourself rooting for at the same time as wanting to shout at
... more and shake him. Ida Mclaird is a beautifully melancholic heroine. The two were made for each other and it's heartbreaking to see the lack of their future. A must read if you want to find yourself emotionally invested in the characters while recalling your own past of love and loss. less
