review 1: Grace, therapist, finds a man on a mountain; also, her ex-husband flees his new girlfriend and her son. Books like this are not made for me, and I am not made for books like this. I understand that it was written commendably and it was all about real lives coming together and apart and whatnot. But I'm frustrated because nothing really happened, or if it did, it was written in this quiet contained way where the happening was almost indistinguishable from the not happening, and the why was completely lost. Blegh.
review 2: I'm not a fan of short stories but Inside started out feeling like short stories. Given time, I realized that they are loosely connected points in time of the lives of 3 main characters; Grace, a therapist, Mitch, her ex-husband and Annie, a f... moreormer patient of Grace, and I enjoyed that style. I think "Inside" was a very appropriate title for the book as the writing really showed the inner thoughts and feelings of the characters. less
