review 1: A solid author for me! I really enjoyed this book. At first I struggled with how Owen could not seem to give David time and patience to come to term with what had happened, but then he came through. Michael was great too. I t was nice to see Rey again and a little of Sam. David and Owen went through a lot but came together in the end. Was not completely comfortable with Owen's past, but I realize people can change.
review 2: Extremely Unusual Characters and Plot--Powerful in All RespectsAnother triumph in a series which never misses, this book reunites David Weller, who made an appearance in the previous book in the series (Acts of Faith), with a new character, Owen Hart, who'd been David's lover until suddenly, one day, he disappears. When Owen suddenly
... morereappears in David's life, it allows us the opportunity to revisit some of the previous characters in the series--most prominently his now catering business partner, Rey, and Rey's lover Samuel the cop who started it all in Cost of Repairs. It also expands David's personality from our first (maybe negative) impressions of him in the other book and introduces us to one of the most complex, possibly dangerous, and extremely besotted ex-lovers you will ever encounter, Owen, and his now 14-year-old son, Michael. The plot is nasty. Pure and simply one of the least likely scenarios one can imagine, some of the most shocking revelations (for both characters) and a denouement which could, but does not, stretch credibility. And there has to be another in the series (please! please! please!) because author Arthur has snuck a "David" into this one--see if you can spot him. But for now, just get into this one, it's a gem and the quintessential definition of how much it costs to repair a love affair less
