review 1: Not as good as I expected but decent. I wasn't particularly fond of Adam or Ryan but, after they stopped hurting each other and themselves, they did seem right together. I also can't say I get Langley's point of view and his excuses were just that...nonsensical excuses. A lot of this story could've been solved with communication and the fact that everything actually managed to end okay was pretty miraculous and not exactly an achievement by any of the characters. Honestly, I expected some more character growth. Some more adult behavior and less whining. But what I got wasn't terribly disappointing either, just more like an empty feeling afterwards.
review 2: 3.5 starsI don't using usually go for N/A because I can't relate to the MCs and have a hard time believi... moreng the HEA. Does anyone really get life at age 20?That being said, I liked this book. It was sweet, a first and forever kind of love story. Ryan and Adam were best friends in high school until a gay bashing broke them down and apart. Adam's dad is a homophobe, and Adam is dependent on him financially, so he stays firmly in the closet, that is until he sees Ryan again three years after the night that changed both of them.The guys begin working together on a fundraiser for a community center.Adam wants Ryan, but Ryan doesn't want to be hidden. Adam wants to graduate from college before telling his dad he's gay. Ryan isn't willing to wait.The book is told in the first-person POV from both Ryan and Adam's perspective, which proved confusing at times. Their voices sounded much the same, and there was a bit of telling via flashbacks as well as long internal monologues that dragged a bit. The bedroom scenes were quite passionate though, and there's a nice resolution. less
