review 1: India Hayes is back… and murder soon follows!India’s crazy family is back, too — Carmen has delivered her twin daughters, but that hasn’t slowed her down. She’s knee-deep in organizing the Founders Festival, which calls for India to dress in pink gingham.India’s parents are petitioning to save the bell tower, and her brother Mark – after being held for murder – quit his job, bought a motor home and began traveling.Detective Rick Mains is back, and not surprised that India is involved in another murder mystery!Believe me, there’s plenty of excitement — and danger — when India’s friend is murdered and her son Derek asks India to find the killer.OK, I’ve given enough away – no more.If you enjoyed Maid of Murder, you’ll love Murder in a Basket! Es... morepecially the surprise at the end!
review 2: A light, quick-read mystery. College librarian India Hayes finds the body of a basket weaver at a Founders' Day Festival. When the woman's son asks her to help, she tries to find the murderer and the motive. She encounters family disfunction, partly based on the $2 million inheritance given to a dog which the the victim was named to care for. My major complaint is the use of the incompetent, eccentric side-kick, in this case India's landlady. less

won't be adding this author to my list - very irritating characters, particularly Ina. Formulaic.

A little slow to develop but overall a good mystery. Look forward to more in the series.

I liked it well enough to request the first in the series from my library.
