review 1: Really quite disappointed in this, as it had the potential to be good, but the writing and characterization was so flat, I felt like it was a complete waste. It tells the story of a long abused wife, Kathryn/Kate but she is portrayed as so saintly and I didn't really buy into her character at all, and although I applaud the effort to try and write a book about this important topic, I think in the genre, Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes is far superior.

But I know they exist - you just have to read the papers. ... moreMy daughter and I were having an interesting chat the other day about whether the death penalty should be reintroduced in the UK. She said 'yes - absolutely, anyone who kills someone deserves to be killed themselves.' But this book shows that there are times when someone richly deserves to die and the person who kills them has already suffered enough. I felt for her children, life as they knew it was proved to be a lie and it takes them years to understand. An excellent book, recommended. less
