review 1: Beautiful heartbreaking story and if there had been a chapter or two on the presumed meeting between Dot and Simon I would have given it five stars. The epilogue brought the story to a close too soon in my opinion; what happened to Dot, was she still alive at the end of the book? I really would have liked to have seen more of a development prior to the epilogue. Some people believe more is less so that the reader feels involved by filling in the gaps...well I'm too lazy for that, I would have liked Amanda Prowse to fill them in for me, particularly as she writes so well.
review 2: Once again Mrs Prowse has delivered a beautiful, heartbreaking and engaging novel. Clover's Child, like the other stories in the No Greater Love series, takes you on a journey from g
... morerim reality to opulent climates and back again. Stories of love fighting against the odds whether it be through war, domestic abuse or racial prejudice, the key themes centre around women who suffer the ultimate loss yet claw back the strength and determination to rebuild their lives. Dot's feelings of pain and loss are gut wrenching yet Clover's Child does leave you with a sense of euphoria at times and the connections with the other novels in the series, gave me a feeling of comfortable familiarity, like reading about old friends. And yet each novel is unique and by no means a repetition of the other. A sublime summer holiday read but I couldn't wait for my holiday to read it!! Glad I didn't wait. less
