review 1: I liked all three guys. Triads aren’t my favourite thing by a long shot. In this case it made sense. A little sad, this type of constellation, but that’s the premise.Kaden was great at first, even if he turned a bit too childish or self-absorbed later; Russ took some time to warm up to, while I enjoyed Gage throughout. As a story it wasn’t much. Setup for a world, a series. The second half was almost entirely taken up by sex. I can’t even say whether it was good sex or not because, frankly, I found myself a little bored at that point.So yeah. Setup, sex, not very much resolved. More than anything else, this felt like a teaser. Not really what I was hoping for.
review 2: If this is going to be a series, this was a very interesting start to it!A few books... more have had shifters who are part of a threesome who are all mates and there is a connection with all of them. Here you have an Alpha, Gage, who has his mate, Russ, but Gage is not the true mate to Russ. Enter omega Kaden, who is Russ' mate, but Russ is not his!!! It may be that Gage is Kaden's mate!Confused? Did I mention there is also a war with the vampires going on at the same time?!?It is not easy to list it, but it is easy to follow when reading it, and feel the sadness and frustration of Gage and Russ that they are mated and tied to one another for their lives, and while Russ loves Gage, he always feel something is missing since the mate connection is only one way.For Kaden, while most omegas go into "service" of other wolves, he has no interest in that, he wants to cook and create and joins Gage's pack to serve in the kitchen and help with the war effort since, as an omega, he is not a fighter.An act of possible sabotage brings the trio in very close quarters and also identifies a possible suspect. All is not as it seems and with how quickly the end of the book came, I do hope there are further stories to come! less
