review 1: Reliable fun. This is far from a perfect book, but it entertained me throughout.We have messy name switching and of course the customary fast pace of the narrative – in that things are not talked or explained to death or repeated. Except for the mate thing.What really confused me was this.Danner has watched Zall train shirtless. He was definitely checking him out thoroughly. So why is he now shocked when he lifts Zall’s shirt to find scars? Moreover, didn’t Zall take his shirt off while in the pipes? He could have put it back on before approaching Danner, of course, although I don’t recall that happening.A small mystery that made me raise my brows because it could so easily have been avoided by simply making Zall train with his shirt in place.Regardless, I enjoyed ... morethe relationship between those two. As usual, this is more of an introduction into a story than an all-out emotional pull fest, but the way the two treat each other (in the epilogue especially) just feels right to me, not falling into the usual strict roles. Very nice.
review 2: 2.5 I suppose? The main issue I have is one I find with all Amber Kell books -- they're too short! Things seem rushed and lacking. The story line isn't bad, the characterization isn't either, but everything is going at a warp speed. I always finishing thinking it would have been better if there was just a bit more time put into the story and some more pages. I was a bit annoyed that in the beginning there was a point made that Danner didn't want to bottom and wanted to be dominated, yet that was regulated to the epilogue like an afterthought. The sex they had during the story was Danner topping for Zall. less
