Stupid Cupid
review 1: Play Fling & Sweetest Fling by Amber Scott are part of the Stupid Cupid series which is funny and romantic with a little kick to it. I extremely enjoyed Millie's matchmaking skills, especially when everything she plans goes wrong. The combination of Millie and Aj the cupid supervisor, is just perfect especially the chemistry they have together. Its wonderful to find your soulmate but it can be disastrous apparently at the being. Thankfully if you have a cupid wiling to do anything for love the results will be great. The questionable tactics, the quirky remarks and the true love stories will keep you from putting the book down.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. I'd describe it as 'a serious screwball romantic comedy'. There's a lot of mix up and mistaken a
... moressumptions that bar the path to true love for the characters...hence the screwball comedy aspect. But its got a depth of emotion to it that makes it 'serious' than the usual idea of a screwball set up. The characters are intriguing, the main romance characters have definite heat between them (she describes the nuances of mutual attraction very very well), and their reasons for getting cold feet are very realistic. The 'matchmaker' Millie is probably my favourite character. I found she reminded me of Jane Austen's Emma in that I both liked/disliked her and, like Emma, she's a bit self-absorbed and unable to see past her own prejudices to the truth that's going on around her, and also in her own heart. But of course she does make important realization as part of her growth by the end of the book.A really good read! less
