review 1: This was a tough book for me to read. The main character is the single mother of a young boy, and she is in the midst of a rather ugly custody battle. She is also an active alcoholic. I have little patience for alcoholics. While I understand intellectually that it is a disease, it feels a bit like a choice. I could not put this book down. It was honest and real and sad and honest. I am glad I picked it up, even if the topic was distasteful. I feel differently now then when I started reading, and I really wish I could be friends with Cadee...my guess is that you may feel the same way.
review 2: I wouldn't say this was a book that I loved, but it definitely held my attention. I can see how a woman can spiral into addiction through just a "couple glasses"
... more of wine a night. It is hard to be a mother in today's society. There is the pressure between being a working mother or a stay at home mother. Top it off with trying to do it on your own and it can be enough to push anyone over the edge. I particularly enjoyed the character development of Candence and the fact that this book wasn't all wine and roses, sometimes things just don't turn out how you want them to. Cadence learned this, struggled, picked herself up and pushed herself to be better. What made this book better for me was that the author based Cadence's struggles on what she herself had gone through. This is a very real issue and one that millions of people suffer with daily. less

Very familiar...didn't I just read this same story by Jennifer Weiner? Not sure which came first.
