review 1: I have a weird fascination with retold fairy tales and have read many different versions of them including a lot of variants of Beauty and the Beast. I did like this variant with Naef and Aerie-Smith, it was a bit different and I found it interesting but I couldn't find an emotional connection with the characters. The tale was well written but for me it was lacking something. I did like the fact that times each of them was both the beauty and the beast but as I said I couldn't connect with the characters.
review 2: THIS WAS AMAZING! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!I read this book in one sitting, once I started I couldn’t stop. The story captured me and I was glued to my chair. Naef lives in a small fishing town, he as born disfigured. He is shunned, abused and tor
... moremented by people in his village and his only support is his mother and sister. Like the blurb states his sister’s fiancee brother who is living under a curse offers his sanctuary and companionship for a year. But at the end of this year Naef will have to perform ‘one regrettable task”. I don’t want to give away any of the story, but I will say it was so much more than I was expecting. I love fantasy stories, but this was so emotional, moving, painful and absolutely lovely. I am a fairly new Amy Lane fan and this little gem has persuaded me to read all of her books! This is a story I will never forget and will definitely reread! This is going on my “best of the best” shelf. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! less
