review 1: Wicked Bugs is interesting and fun to read. This was an unusual pick for me as almost everything I read is fiction or poetry. Because of my typical taste in books, I kept wanting Wicked Bugs to go more in-depth with personal accounts of what it's like to interact with these bugs. This just isn't that kind of book and it's not trying to be. It's like a very well-written, logically organized tour of a bunch of Wikipedia pages. Nothing was so intricately scientific that it got hard to understand or boring and while there are some nice vignettes, it's pretty much non-narrative. The dark and twisted side of nature is very appealing to me, so I'll definitely be reading more by Amy Stewart.
review 2: I really enjoyed reading this book. The information was easy to dige
... morest and wasn't overly complicated telling the history of every inch of every bug ever. The information about each insect was presented like a field journal with the genus species, the common name, size, and other known names listed with the sketch of the critter. Then a few paragraphs giving detail about the origin, name, location, history, interesting fact, etc of the insect. The pictures of each insect were spot on and I actually identified a few common bugs around my house with the book!Overall it was a very interesting read if you're into the natural world and the insect world. less
