review 1: 'Ravanayana' left me puzzled and questioning what if all the stories we heard since childhood are bunch of lies. The saga begins with an amazing perspective on why Ravana is called Dashamukha and his final moments of contemplation but all the excitement seems to die down as u continue .. honestly I had to drag through the book. Nevertheless great effort by Anand for presenting this tale from a different point of view and subtly questioning the righteousness of so called 'Dharma'.
review 2: A clear dravidian bias can be seen by the author. In the story, the root cause of all the problems faced by Asuras were due to Devas and brahmins and all of the problems faced by Devas were due to brahmins.Though I agree that priests across religions have abused their positio
... morens throughout history. Putting all the blame on brahmins for everything bad in India is an easy escape for a weak person. All the negatives for Rama have been well articulated throughout the book. Please don't call it mythology (read history) as I and millions of inhabitant of Indian subcontinent believe these were true events later written by multiple writers across countries. This has been passed from generation to generation as words and books. We also have physical proof like Ram Sethu, and numerous temples that exist on the path that Rama took into exile and up in NepalFor the readers I would recommend them to read Breaking India as this story is a good example to create divide between North Indian and South Indians. Just to get a view from both sides.I have still given it 2 stars as it was good seeing a different turn to the history and a good effort by author to showcase his point of view. Ram bless! less
