review 1: Outstanding! I picked up this book at an airport kiosk mostly by accident. 600 pages of gripping tension that kept me awake 2 nights in a row. Grens, the protagonist, is a highly skilled yet somewhat dysfunctional - a lot like Harry Hole in fact. And like a vintage Nesbo, the book starts at a leisurely pace but builds up into a page turning frenzy soon enough. If you're a Jo Nesbo fan, here's another series of books you can dig into while waiting for the next Nesbo translation.
review 2: In this gripping thriller set in modern Sweden Roslund and Hellstrom clearly know the face of modern policing in this compelling plot that envelopes you right to the last sentence. The story follows an infiltrator, going by the code-name 'Paula', who leads a dangerous and multi
... more-layered life. I rocketed through the book - at the same time finding myself questioning the ethics of the whole infiltration program. Who is right and wrong, what is lawful and unlawful in a world where police use criminals to catch other criminals? Skillfully though this never detracts from what is an octane-charged thriller. This book will appeal to any general crime reader. I would also recommend it to anyone who likes to occasionally lose themselves in an intelligent hair-raising stories. less
