review 1: I listened to the book on CD and the author read it... Someone should tell him the have professional readers for a purpose! Aside from that, each vignette was good, and it was a situation of each character knowing the other by the "6th degree." The ending of each vignette was open ended, allowing you to draw your own conclusion. I just wish at the end of the book, they would have all come together.
review 2: Uneven and ultimately rather depressing, despite the ambiguous ending of each of these loosely connected short(ish) stories. The endings leave open the possibility of some compromised "happy" futures for the characters. The first, "Listen Carefully" is the most powerful, I suppose. The main character, who may or may not have driven his wife to infidelity... more, tries to mange the situation through Project Management techniques. less
