review 1: When i first heard of this book i wasn't planning on reading as this type of stories aren't really my cup of tea. But when i say it in a bookshop for FREE i decided to pick it up. I obviously have read Andrea Cremer's Nightshade series and i really enjoyed it. I haven't read any of David LeviThan books however i heard great reviews of his book everyday. So when i found out that they co-wrote this book and it was for free i got it. I liked Stephan, it was kind of what i imagined his character would be like but i didn't enjoy reading Elizabeths pov at all, i thought that it ruined the whole idea and i found that the book was mostly centered on her instead of Stephan which i assumed would be tthe main foucs. I could also see the differences between writing styles from ... moreAndrea and David. While Davids style fitted the book and gave a clear understanding, Andrea's didn't. I often found myself skipping parts and it wasn't a book i could read in one go. The beginning of the book was great, it gave the more or less idea of what it would be like, the character introductions were done great (most of them anyway) but after 50 pages or so into the book the time pace of the story got really slow and boring to read and the romance which was breaking out between Stephan and Elizabeth was far to quick. There were many missing threads to it and it got kind of annoying being left confused on what is meant. I did like the idea of cursecasters and spellseakers though which really made me continue reading it. However bringing the dad back into the picture when he clearly has left it in Stephans early childhood was completely pointless. I think it was just an easy way to explain what happened and i definately think a more interesting way could have been used. The ending though made me chuck my book againt the floor. It was rushed far too quickly and i knew what was going to happen half way through which didn't make it interesting. Also the fact that they went through all that trouble only to find that the curse can't be broken was very annoying and i didn't mind not carrying on where as in other books such as city of bones i couldn't put it down. Overall it wasn't a bad read but it was dissapointing as i expected more from Andrea and David. This definately wouldn't be a book to read after a reading slup as it would only make the slump worse. However i still think both of the authors are great writers when they are not colaborating together as we all can see what that turns out like.
:( less
