review 1: Shadow Days goes back to the beginning of the Nightshade Series and gives us more information on Shay.It starts with Shay being awoken by a call saying he is moving again, and end at the precise moment of the first book of Nightshade beginning. He moves into Rowan Estate, hates it, has trouble sleeping, starts a blog, breaks into the library, starts snooping, and all this before school ever starts. It mostly gives you more to fill in on what Shay is really like and he seems much more approachable and easy going in this book. I actually like him in this book as opposed to the rest of the series. There are some hints and so about the lineages and such, but nothing concrete. If you really enjoyed the books and like Shay, go for it and get this little e=book. It's not a bad ... moreread.
review 2: To come...It's always interesting to read from a different charter's POV. This novella is written from Shay's point of view from when he finds out he's moving to Vale through the first few weeks he is there. It gives a look around the inside of Rowan Estate, at the strange Paranormal activity that happens and how Shay does some investigating as to what it all might be. He doesn't come to any conclusions, however. The final scene is him in the woods with the bear attacking him. I have to say that the novella ends quite abruptly. And I don't really get the sense that he is terrified or even scared when the bear is attacking, or when he is investigating the strange activity in the estate.I was actually a bit disappointed with reading this. It did not give me the same sense as the books did at all. It did not make me want to really keep turning the pages.I also expected more of a definition of the relationship between Bosque and Shay but it just was not there.I give this a 2.5 out of 5 stars. less
