review 1: The first few sentences of this story cracked me up, and totally hooked me. Funny and original. The setting of the story continued along those same lines, being both funny and original. I thoroughly enjoyed the descriptions of things as Brandon goes exploring.I couldn't help wishing there'd been more to the romance. Brandon didn't have one nice thing to say about Dusty right up until that one hug. So to have them all of a sudden be together still a year in the future didn't come across as believable to me. But then, I suppose, in a world of cartoon logic, who needs believability? ;)2.5 stars, rounded up for being free
review 2: I found this hysterically funny--I'll try not to give any spoilers--but the whole execution of a very bizarre combination of plot
... more elements that one would never put together (furries? Not to cast judgment on anyone by any means whatsoever--to each their own and all, with my blessing (within legal limits) but I'm scared and afraid that I need to do some research here) into a cohesive whole that actually makes sense in a twisted way is brilliantly carried off. I love the whole double-life aspect of "the Creator." I actually read this story days ago but just found out I could download it today, and I'm giggling just writing this.I knew that Ms. Speed was funny from all the repartee of her characters in the "Infected" series (haven't made my way over to "Josh of the Damned" although I think I'm headed in that direction), but I had no idea she was this flat out goofy funny with just a thread of reality holding things just barely in place. Or not. I can see it in my head as a little movie--it would make a great short film. I could be biased because I'm a huge fan already, but this wasn't at all what I was expecting, and I was delighted and also incoherent as I tried to read bits to my boyfriend, who of course didn't get them because he hadn't read the story and didn't understand why I was giggling maniacally in the corner. :-) less
